Wil Akkermans' Cae Hir is a very special Ornamental
Garden not to be missed when you visit West Wales. |
|
Garden of Surprises, Search out the four colour themed gardens.
Look for the Bonsai Room and the (almost) natural water feature. Plus
many other treasures skillfully concealed by clever planting to surprise
and delight the visitor.
| Wil Akkermans the architect, creator
and workhorse of Cae Hir comes from a long line of Dutch Nurserymen.
His love of plants and ability to develop layout and structure
has been put to good use at Cae Hir. Since 1985 using only hand
tools available to the average gardener, Wil has single handedly
worked to develop this six acre site into a very special garden. |

A
One Man Job
[If Not I'm a Dutchman]
by Wil Akkermans
Illustrated by Lucie Tracy
An amiable meandering account of a 'run-away-teacher from Holland's'
experience as a horticulturist in Wales. We learn how this Welsh-speaking
Dutchman started off with a cottage, six acres of rough pasture
and a stream, and over the years managed to produce a highly
successful
sequence of Gardens.
